FEBRUARY LUNCHEON MEETING
Houston Claims Association's
February luncheon meeting will be held Wednesday, February 8, 11:15 am, at the
Hilton Houston SW, 6780 Southwest Freeway (US 59 between Hillcroft and Bellaire
Blvd.) John Holt of Blackmon Mooring will present a one-hour course on "Street
Level Ethics." The program has been approved by TDI for one hour ethics credit.
Cost is $25.00 for members; $30.00 for non-members. (Cash or check) Please

through the HCA website, by 5:00 pm, Friday, February 3. If you wish to
attend the half-day seminar, please use the CE Seminar #68 registration form

Registration form for the
February 8 half-day seminar is enclosed. The seminar will offer 2.5 hours of
general credit and 1.5 hours of ethics. Please use the enclosed registration
form and preregister/prepay. If you wish to attend only the ethics hour, please
register by the web or calling the office.

2012 SPRING OUTING
Mark your calendars for Monday,
April 30, for the 2012 HCA Spring Outing at Cypresswood Golf Course, 21602
Cypresswood Dr., Spring, TX 77373. This always a fun day and benefits the HCA
Scholarship Fund. As in years past, two 18-hole courses will be used for the
tournament. All vendors wishing to have displays are encouraged to be hole
sponsors; and, to reach maximum exposure, consider one hole on each course. The
second hole is discounted. Each sponsor is also encouraged to sponsor a door
prize for the drawing. Forms for hole/beverage carts sponsorships and team
registration will be available soon. We are looking forward to having you join
us and another successful golf tournament.
TEXAS HOLD'EM POKER TOURNAMENT
What a fun evening! Using
poker terms royal flush and full house seems to be appropriate. Thanks to all
the sponsors and everyone who attended and special thanks to Tommy Johnson,
HSA; Jennifer Neil, Blackmon Mooring; and HCA Board Member Craig Taylor for
facilitating the event. Companies sponsoring the tables, food, prizes, and

Top ten winners of Texas Hold'em
were David Burdick (top prize), Bobby Daniel, Freddy Govea, Linda Flores, Doug
Lipsey, Doris Preuss, John Davis, Ryan Kalina, Sean Sherrouse, and Jason
McWilliams. Tammy Williford was the winner of the Black Jack tournament.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FORM
The 2012 Membership Renewal
Form is available on the website and at the monthly meetings. Fees for 2012
remain at $35.00. Corporate rates for applications submitted together and paid
for on a company check are $32.50 each for 6 - 15 employees and $30.00 each for
16 or more employees. For new employees, please use the new member application
form found on below. Fees must be paid to receive credit at the March
luncheon.
2012-2013 SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATIONS
Scholarship application forms
for the 2012-2013 scholastic year are now available on the website, through the
Association office, and at the luncheon meetings through February. As education
costs continue to increase, supplemental funding is even more important. If you
have been a member of the Association for one year, have attended at
least four meetings within this past year, and your student meets the following
requirements, she/he is encouraged to apply: graduating high school senior
applying to a university or vo-tech school or is currently enrolled in a
university or vo-tech school; financially dependent on parent/guardian who is
an HCA member; and under 25 years of age at the beginning of the scholastic
year (September 1, 2012.) Current and past recipients are eligible and are
encouraged to apply. Please remember that incomplete forms and forms received
after the March 1, deadline, will NOT be considered. Interviews will be
held at the Hilton Houston Southwest, Saturday, March 17.

UPDATES
Sympathies are extended to the
families and friends of two long time members, Louise Wiley and Don Hood. Both
passed away in January.
